So you were looking for erotic work in an art book? Is this what you are saying? Again, I ask you, is eroticism the only thing you value in art? I think Sally Mann's photographs are brilliant. I was a professional photographer (but that doesn't make my opinion necessarily more valid) at the time her book came out. I think that my pedophilia might have led me to her work too, but it was not what made me like it.

I like David Hamilton too, and have some of his books. But I like Sally Mann's work better. David is more about eros, and I appreciate that, but to me, it is only a part of art, not the defining factor on what I like. In fact, some would say that Hamilton is not really an artist (I would disagree) because he made those soft-core porn like movies.

Of course art is subjective, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But to dismiss work because it is not erotic enough? Why? There is so much more to like in Mann's work instead of eros.
