Re: The Roots of Pedophilia --- interesting Read

Let me preface this by saying that I did not read the entire post. I was too disgusted to read the entirety of such a negatively biased load of horse shit.

What I read was not necessarily true about "pedophiles" at all. It would be more accurate to say that it described "child molestors".

"Pedophiles seem to have narcissistic and antisocial (psychopathic) traits. They lack empathy for their victims and express no remorse for their actions."

The words victim and actions imply that pedophiles harm children. He is obviously very biased against child molestors and seeks to project that hatred onto everyone who is attracted to children.

This post seemingly is coming from the same kind of person who would probably write about all homosexual men having a lisp or all lesbians having buzz-cuts and wearing boots and flannel. People with common sense should know these stereotypes are not true.

His entire numbered list was full of insinuations that pedophiles prey on children and they are motivated solely by their psychological problems. Many of us probably have psychological issues. Maybe not strong enough to really be called problems, but most of these issues arise from being raised to think that what we are is wrong and having to cope with society's oppression of our freedom to express love.

Sam Vaknin is obviously a man who uses complicated words and phrases, like "etiology" or "pathological confabulators", to make himself seem educated and authoritative. In reality, he has very little true knowledge of the subject at all.

"Most pedophiles suffer from cognitive deficits and reinterpret reality to fit their fantasies."

I don't know exactly what he is referring to when he writes about "cognitive deficits", but I bet there will be more than one well thought out reply to this post. And I'd like to say that if reality fit my fantasies, the world would be a much better place for everyone.

It pains me that people think of our kind as defilers of children. This is about as far from the truth as you can get. I'd write more about how this man's post is full of lies, but I'm very tired (it's almost 4am).
