update - my experiment in outreach

Well, I've been experimenting with outreach - that is, going to non-pedo forums on the web, and posting pro-pedo viewpoints. I figure it does no one any good to debate endlessly among themselves, and by crossing those boundaries I do both communities good: by challenging assumptions and by having my assumptions challenged.

So far, I've had some messages deleted from scienceforums.net because they didn't like the content. But they didn't delete my account.

More notably, I made a number of posts on christianforums.net, in the sub-forums where non-christians are mostly welcome. Not all the posts were pedo-related, but once the moderators got around to noticing my posts, they deleted all of them AND my account. I've noticed this is a typical Christian reaction to opposing views - to silence them.

I was pleasantly surprised not to get death threats on the Christian forum, and even got some grudging acknowledgement of the problems with things as they are - but what support I got was mostly from non-Christians. I was also impressed by the fact that the only posters consistently demonstrating love and respect for others were Buddhist, Hindu, or non-religious.

My posts on slashdot have received a mixed reception.

One post to an anime board received a partly sympathetic response.

Posts to a board for hippies (hipforums.com) received responses ranging from very supportive to death threats.

Make no doubt about it, "all the fools are against us, and ain't that a majority in any town?"

But, this is just the beginning.
