There is no way of knowing this. You'd need a clear definition of what/who a pedophile is. But, given the explanation of 'pedophile' in the first sentence, the stat is still ill~conceived. Nine tenths of all known pedophiles perhaps? Maybe not...

Moreover, at least one fifth (and probably more) of the population have pedophiliac fantasies. The prevalence of child pornography and child prostitution prove it.

Wait, does this mean at least 20% of the population are pedophiles? No, of course not. They're not "acting" on their fantasies, as mentioned in the first sentence. Err...but how does a prevalence of CP prove this? Is that not acting on fantasy?

The pedophile believes that he is in love with (or simply loves) the child. Sex is merely one way to communicate his affection and caring. But there are other venues.

Again, replace 'pedophile' with 'heterosexual man' and 'child' with 'woman.'

It must be strongly noted that many non-sexual idealistic pedophiles show a genuine love for children that is often misinterpreted by society and popular culture as inherently wrong and immoral.

Moreover, the term "pedophile" has come to mean an adverse sexual desire for children, and society often misinterprets displays of love and affection for children as sexual desire for them, when this is not always true.
