Not really. Pubescent refers specifically to people *during* puberty, as opposed to before or after it. Adolescent refers to a developmental stage that is not only determined by biology but also by society and mind - it goes after childhood and before adulthood, but has no clear biological markers by itself - particularly as to when it ends.
In particular, while girls are pubescent (and post-pubescent) earlier than boys, usually the label of adolescent is simultaneous for both genders. And any definition of adolescence has varied widely across cultures, partly because the expectations for certain ages have always been different from one culture to the next.
It fits better since puberty is more physical-based
I agree with it myself for describing my attraction, but not necessarily for describing everyone's - and definitely depends on the context whether one or the other is more accurate for any given girl.
whereas I've never heard anyone say preadolescent or postadolescent.
Words for post-adolescence are rarely required, as they would be synonymous to adulthood. When they are used, it's usually in order to point out "early" adulthood, ie, "right after" adolescence.
As for "pre-adolescent", you're right it isn't common in English but it is far commoner in other languages. However, English uses "preteen" with much the same meaning - even though "preteen" and "teen" are derived from the specific cardinal numbering of the English language and thus have their own specific problems when applied to categories which are not mathematical but social (adolescent) or biological (pubescent).
However, your post has convinced me to STOP using abbreviations of any sort.
