Anyway, I understand adulthood being essentially 'postadolescent'. However, the reason I made the distinction is while it fits with the cultural word 'adulthood' 'adult' can also have a legal meaning (18+) which is not always synonymous, because in many cultures adolescence ends early (judaism they become adults early, also hunter tribes)
Also in in many cultures it ends even after they're adults (are you really an 'adult' if you're in college and not working? or if you're some dependant loser living at home? hm, I don't think I am really finished my adolescence personally despite being a legal adult...).
I pretty much agree with everything you've posted. The difference in meaning was already realized when I went to go look it up. I think I actually learned the diff before but then forgot, needed a wikireminder.
