Love is SO complex and, sometimes, it hurts SO bad *and I'm not talking about abusive relationships, but normal things like "I like him but he likes my friend" or "the relationship is over because there's no love left"* that I wish they could spend as much time as possible without knowing about it! there's an ideal i try to live up to, where putting a little girlfriend's happiness before my own is the MOST important thing. in practice, i think of myself as providing a safe place, like a sandbox, for a little girl to act out her romantic fantasies. i see my role as protecting her from the realities that you describe, of jealousy and disappointment and exploitation and everything else. its really no loss for me to leave sex out of this game, altho i don't think its necessarily incompatible. i've had little girlfriends express curiosity about my body and invite me to play in erotic ways with their own, but i gently decline these initiatives for their good and my own. children are not half so asexual as many people assume. they just don't reveal it to everybody they meet. anyway, i've had some wonderful friendships with little girls. and i mean little - five or six years old. they're so romantic and loving (even tho they can also be aggressive and spiteful if the spirit takes them). i try to be their real life knight in shining armour: loyal, noble, utterly trustworthy and attentive. i've been criticised by mothers on occasions for putting their daughters on a pedestal, but the way i see it, girls learn the truth about love soon enuf. when that time comes, i want my lgf's to set their sites high, and not settle for anything less than i offer them in our play. i don't see anything wrong with that. |
