....In the school where I work there is a sign posted (I think it is in year two) which in part reads "God gave us two ears and one mouth so that we listen twice as much as we speak". You, my dear, have at least opened one of yours, biased though it may be, in an endeavor of understanding. To that - my applause. All *I* want in this life is to be accepted without judgement as the person that I *am* and this is only possible if ears are open and mouths closed whilst I tell my story, a circumstance that is rarely available. So, thank you for the opportunity. I won't reiterate all the valid points already presented by my fellow GLers, but I will dissent from and denounce those that demonstrated hostility and contempt towards your important questions; we can only gain acceptance through imparting knowledge, not unwarranted vitriolic diatribe, to achieve understanding and humanity. My wish is to be accepted as I am without prejudice; an entity born to be who I am (yes, I believe it's genetic). Thank you for at least using *one* ear, I know this must have been difficult for you, I hope you stick around. I've found most of the people on this Forum to be accepting and pleasant to others and not withholding of their thoughts and feelings to reasonable *outsiders*. It makes a refreshing change from getting death threats from most of society. Thanks again, DeeGee |
