My thoughts on Gary Glitter

It's big news here in the UK. Again, it's a great scandal for the tabloids to sell more papers with.

My view is this. There are the usual distorted facts. He apparently abused/raped two girls aged 10 and 11. However, they DID consent to relations and did so for several weeks while staying at his house in Vietnam. Scarred for life? I doubt it very much.

My view is that the only harm that will come to the girls is the psychological harm caused by adults telling them what a horrific experience they have had. Thankfully in Vietnam they are not as paranoid about such things as us British. In Britain for a start he would have been put away for 20 years for sexual relations with children.

My other point:
Gary Glitter is rather dim. Getting caught so many times proves it. Secondly, he could have avoided coming back to the UK because in law there is nothing stopping him from traveling where he wants. Yes 20 countries refused him entry but if he had waited he would have eventually found a flight to some destination that would permit him entry.

Another question: in some of the pictures he is smiling. Why is he smiling? The press really hate this of course. I can only surmise one thing. He doesn't believe that what he did was wrong. Anyone one else got some thoughts?
