It's part of what they want

Knowledge that they are driving your 'boiler to blow' is exactly the kind of thing that's going to put a smile on their faces. From their strange perspective, incurring the hatred of peds will be seen as a positive.

Of course, they're a bunch of wankers, and what they do is despicable. But I think the best response to them is, firstly and obviously, to be aware of their tactics (i.e. be mindful of security issues and encourage others to be also), and aside from that, treat them with the contempt they deserve: ignore them.
