"I'd hate for her to give up a friendship in order to avoid being a go-between for her Father."

So would I. I was looking at this as a last attempt to pass something to her that I wanted...needed to give her.

Events, as always, worked out quite different than I ever expected. I was under the impression that this would the last time the girls saw each other based on the situation. However with the welcome and friendly chatter I instantly knew I was wrong. Driving away I suddenly had that sinking feeling that it was the absolutely worst thing to do, possibly cementing into reality the scenario where we definitely never saw each other again.

However, unexpectedly things again went the other way. I was not so much wanting her to be a go between then just hand over something that I was unable to do. Or perhaps I am just rationalizing it out to make it sound better? But no, other than allowing my daughter to make plans through the phone of her own will, I will not be putting her into this.

Thanks for the observation and criticism though. I may keep making mistakes, but I am learning...slowly. This is why I keep coming back.
