You're not allergic to kittens, you don't have an allergy to kittems, you don't carry some disease that's going to hurt them, and if you were ever given a chance and the need to take care of one, you'd sure as hell doa better job at it than someone who doesn't even like kittens.

Here's your analogy: if ever some asshole found out you had a kitten and played with it, they'd throw you in prison and take the kitten away and have it whipped until it felt like it had been abused.
