Analogy not necessary.

She used an analogy about chocolate. Say I love chocolate but know it's bad for me. Wouldn't it be tempting to just have a little nibble once in a while?

My response to this "analogy" would be to my mother a question. Are you seriously comparing eating chocolate to having sexual contact with a child? The problem with trying to come up with an analogy for sex with a child is that there just isn't one. It's not really comparable to anything else.

In the end, it all depends on the type of person you are. You love children and do not want to do anything that would put them at risk. This is all I would really say to my mother. I'd remind her that my biggest priority is to never harm a child, and that she should have faith and trust in my ability to hold to that.

I think telling your mother that you limit how often you are around children is not a good thing. There is an implication in that comment that you do not trust yourself and therefore limit your interactions with children to lower the chances of something happening. That's not the impression we want to give the rest of society.

I am a firm believer in the theory that Girl Lovers need to be around girls. We need girls in our life to be happy and complete, it's just that simple. Of course we cannot be anything other than friends with these girls, but we should not be keeping ourselves away from them.

The next time you speak to your mother, you should tell her that you know in your heart that you would never do anything sexual with a little girl. You should tell her that there is no good reason why you can't be friends with young girls.

Most non-GL's cannot relate to our position. They think that if we are tempted by a little girl, we will give into that temptation. They think this way because it's what they would do with something they find tempting (hence your mothers chocolate analogy). They fail to understand that nothing else in their life compares to our situation.

We alone are in the unique position that physical expression of our sexual love is illegal. No other orientation suffers from this problem. The rest of society is free to engage in romantic relationships with the ones they desire. Except for us. We must sacrifice our desires to protect our loved ones from societies wrath.

Let your mother understand this. You're no danger to children, and you know it deep in your soul. Good luck with your next conversation, and don't worry about a counter analogy, because there just isn't one.

Alternately, you can tell her that you love chocolate and may want a nibble, but if you take a nibble of that chocolate, you'll go to jail and the chocolate will be taken away and put into years of intensive therapy, which will totally ruin the chocolate for life. Hmmmm, come to think of it, that's a pretty good response to her analogy. So much for my advice on forgetting a counter analogy.
