The rest of society is free to engage in romantic relationships with the ones they desire.

I guess that depends on whether you fall in love with categories, or people. If any adult will do, there are many who are willing. But if you fall in love with individuals, then you're bound to fall for the occasional adult whom you can't have. Its true that adultery in the West is no longer a capital crime, nor does it brand one with the scarlet letter. But there are many of us who fall for married women all the time and who know that adultery is not an option. Not to mention my habit of falling for Lesbians.

Many Nons can be swayed. Just about every single one of them has a desire they know to be harmless but which has been criminalized; if not presently, then in the past.

Many of them have pretty good bullshit-ometers. They've just never had the arguments against Pedophilia held up to the same scrutiny which has caused them to reject hypocrisy in other areas of their lives.

Even if the Nons will never feel what we feel when we're sharing a moment with a girl, many of them can be persuaded to empathize. Brokeback Mountain didn't fill the theatre seats solely with Gay Cowboys :)
