No. It's not. At least it shouldn't be. Children need support, adult interaction, help in understanding things that don't make sense. They need someone to love them unconditionally and rock them to sleep after a nightmare. etc...etc...etc

And in the world around me I see so little of this and it is so sad. Is it any wonder that when the girls' friends come around and we meet and I see another lg with a crush on me? Not really. I show that love and attention, they see it, they crave it, and I find myself in another sticky situation.

Yeah, i work full time, but I have been lucky. After my life fell apart, found my wife in bed with another man, I lost it. They kept me under observation for two weeks, all I wanted to do was to die.

Then my father stepped in. Angry as hell, tears in his eyes. My mother did the same thing to him. In those days, it was ridiculous to think a man could look after children so we lived with my mother and her abusive boyfriend. He told me smarten up. I had an opportunity that he never had, and that if I pissed this away and lost my children because I was too busy feeling sorry for myself then he would pull the trigger for me.

It was one of those moments in life where someone says something to you so profound, painful and truthful that it changes everything. I then cleaned myself up, took my girls back and never looked back. We've had lots of rocky times, but we have each other.

Of course I see other parents that are great at it, much much better than me. It is just so rare to see parents who care. So I don't mind at all picking up for them. Because I love the girls sooo much it just makes life so much brighter!

Thanks for the kind thoughts. Just remember life is full of mistakes, and it is the poor man that cannot learn from them. (not sure how that fits in here...it just sounded good...hehe)
