Hi, Brudda...welcome to GC and thank you for your objectivity and willingness to hear our side of the story.

I should point out that not everyone who is attracted to this community are true GLer's. The majority of us who you see posting here are real GLer's, however. By using the term Girl Lover, what we mean is that our emotional and spiritual attraction to girls in our respective age of attraction (AoA) is at least as great as our physical/sexual attraction. As such, we greatly care about the girls' needs and we have a strong interest in their entire world. Though we do have our sexual desires, these generally take a back seat to our emotional desires, which is to care for a girl and make her feel like the most special person in the world. In other words, love is more important to us than sexual activity.

However, there is also what's known as a child and/or teen fetishist. As the name implies, such individuals have a strictly sexual interest in kids, and it's the result of a fetish similar in nature to the myriad range of other sexual fetishes that exist (e.g., to stuffed animals, to various types of clothing, etc.). Most people like that who I have met tend to be horrified of their sexual desires and believe that NO ADULT should ever be sexual with anyone under 18, regardless of what the law says, and they tend to agree with most of the laws (though several of them tend to disagree with laws against child porn). Such people tend to see no difference between themselves and a genuine GLer, and they often seem to think that real GLer's are "just fooling themselves" about the emotional and spiritual aspects of their attraction. But GLer's are well aware of the difference between themselves and child fetishists, and some of us (me included) tend to dislike people who only have a sexual interest in girls, without concern for the whole person. I agree that such people should stay away from kids, but I vehemently disagree with them that GLer's are no different from them. I know that I want to have a FULL relationship with a teen girl, I want to take her to dinner, share a pizza with her, hear about her day, enjoy seeing her great creative mind and cuteness on display in her everyday life, and basically enjoy getting to know and love the full person...I am not ONLY interested in being sexual with her, and my sexual interest actually takes a back seat to my emotional, social, and spiritual interests in girls.

I don't condemn child and teen fetishists for their desires, but at the same time I do not appreciate their lack of concern for all aspects of a girl beyond the sexual, and I also dislike how they think that all GLer's are like them. I don't tend to warm up to such people when they appear here in the community, and I am thankful that such people are greatly in the minority on GC. They are welcome to post here as long as they follow the FAQ, of course, but I think the difference between them and true GLer's is quite obvious.

This community attracts a wide array of people here, and not all of them can accurately be called GLer's. Diversity is the rule, but I can honestly say that the vast majority of us are decent people who accurately fit the description of 'Girl Lover.'

And for the record, I always get angry when I see someone here speaking disrespectfully of girls, or who come here for no other reason than to perv out.
