Rumination is distinct from problem-solving; it doesn't place one outside of the POV which caused the suffering; and instead focusses on the suffering itself. Its only natural to want to vent. But this should be combined with some degree of problem solving.

Someone once defined "Insanity" as "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

But like most all forms of madness, its exhibited by stable people too; just in a more moderate degree counterbalanced by other "madnesses."
