yeah. despite the protests of lgsinmyheart and zlurker (who doth protest too much, methinks) i see a lot of hankie tearing and self pity on these pages. often the suggestion that we shld just go out and make friends with kids is met with much wailing and gnashing of teeth and every reason why its impossible.

i'm certainly not suggesting that people act in any inappropriate way with little girls, and i'm very careful about my own conduct with them, but despite all the paranoia and hysteria around men having such friendships, i've managed to have some really great ones.

i've also had some difficulties and suffered some setbacks thru being too outspoken about my sexuality, but i haven't let that turn me into a hermit. the point is, GC is a fine place for support and to seek advice and encouragement, but i do think the dangers of over-ruminating might also apply here. the best cure for helplessness and powerlessness is actually doing something, not sitting around talking about being helpless and powerless.

i also think there's a more serious issue here, and i've had some experience with this myself. its easy to believe that unless one can do some particular thing with little girls, see them in the nude, play sex games with them or whatever, then happiness and fulfillment will always be out of reach. this can make life seem hopeless and pointless. it makes a person feel oppressed and might even lead to thoughts of suicide, or worse, to involving a girl in something forbidden.

but really its bullshit. unless you actually come out of your shell and discover how much fun it is to jump on a trampoline with a little girlfriend, or read her a story, or turn over rocks in a stream and find critters, then you'll never realise how unimportant all that other stuff is.

there's a lot of focus on the erotic aspects of girl love on these pages and, while these aspects are important because they're a part of who we are and come bubbling up from our unconscious whether we want them or not, putting them at the centre of things and dwelling on them to the exclusion of more obtainable pleasures and joys is just going to increase our frustration. whatever we like to think, sex isn't that important to little girls, in fact it barely registers.

we're adults here, mostly men. we should act like it, and take responsibility for own situation, not sit in our bedrooms angsting over our romantic difficulties like tragic schoolgirls.
