I think that what too many people don't realise is that determing age is a pretty subjective thing and is often based on cultural or media preconceptions. The plain fact is that there is no 'universal' look for any given numerical age. A lot depends on race too. For example, most 12 yo young ladies of Germanic descent will almost always DWARF a 20 yo Thai and even look quite a bit older in the face too...it comes back to that 'neoteny' issue that was being discussed here a few days back. Many people also have that kind of look that they couldn't be age determined even across several decades of age. I remember a while back seeing a police profiling on TV of a dangerous criminal. When his age was bought up, the officer simply said "he's one of those kind of people of indeterminable age".
