I won't question that environmental degradation is happening - but I would question that environmentalism is focusing in what is actually worst.

Well... greed and consumerism are mutually incompatible, aren't they??

I would say that extremes of greed and consumerism are happening more, or very probably having a larger effect than before.

But I don't think humankind, on average, is either greedier or consumerister than it used to be...
