Be assured that I'm not gonna go all PC on you.

But sex is a lot more than merely visual cues; otherwise there wouldn't be those complaints about mistaking a long-haired boy for a girl.

And I don't believe that what attracts us is a choice.

But since the brain is the primary sex organ, I'd hope that outlook and attitude would count for a lot.

Did I have problems with my sex-life towards the end of my marriage? Yes. Was it because both of us were a decade older and had put on some weight? Nah.

It was that hoary old cliche that I still wanted to shtup as often as I did when I was a newlywed and she wanted to less and less.

The relationship died for lack of communication and mutual goals. So even if she'd been enthusiastic, we'd still be quits. However someone who is playful and who interests me in and out of the sack will continue to excite me even if they don't match my aesthetic criteria.

And the opposite is also true. My eyes will stray to the beauties. But my ardor will be dampened by an off-putting attitude.

The romantic BS that relationships don't require work has served us all poorly. It may work in bodice-rippers and in Hollywood romantic-comedies; but not in RL.
