However...

Several things were involved there...

First, she had her own site and her customers were paying, and thus, not anonymous. That is a honeypot for cops because they have a clear incentive to want to raid her logs, financial as well as the hits / IP logs / referrer logs. Like with US based model sites.

Second, the charges of obscenity are, and quite explicitly, subject to local standards on what is and is not obscene - of course, written kp probably would be deemed obscene by a jury from any American jurisdiction, but the point is that they are, by definition, not carved in stone, unlike other laws, including federal kp laws. Not helping Red Rose either, was the nonconsensual / bdsm character of at least part of her stories, as far as I've been able to gather (I've never read anything by her myself).

Which would be my third point - federal kp laws leave you clear regarding written kp; not every state's laws though.

Fourth, and related to the first, I would adventure that someone who, rather than have their own site, submits to a multi-authored site; and whose customers read / print / download for free, rather than paying, would not be touched, or would require a much higher standard before being touched.

And fifth - Dissident would have to answer this one, but, I don't think he meant THAT when he said he writes. But well, I'll allow him to correct either of us on it...
