All children, girls and boys alike have a large head.

Heads heavily outpace the growth of the rest of the body for a few weeks in utero, and thus become "disproportionate" to the rest of the body, especially compared with the animals whose bodies are more similar to ours.

The foetus head continues to grow, and, in theory, birth happens when the head is about to become too large to be easily extricated from mom's body naturally - ie, when the head size becomes a security risk for baby and mom alike. This is the single largest reason why human babies are born at an earlier stage of development than babies of comparable species.

The baby's head continues to grow outside the womb, but by toddie age it has basically reached its final size. From this point on, the head is never again supposed to neither grow nor shrink - although the nose and ears DO continue to grow.

But then, all the way from foetus to adult, obviously, the rest of the body does grow. From foetus stage, the head is very large - and all the way to toddie age it remains obviously disproportionately large. That is the single largest reason why learning to walk on two feet is so difficult - from the viewpoint of engineering, it's a very bad idea to put such a heavy piece at the top of the structure.

The result is that, from foeti to babies to toddies and on and on to adults, the Head / Body ratio shrinks constantly from a maximum in utero to a minimum in adulthood. That is the largest single reason why adults are dumber than children. As a corollary, you CAN accurately estimate the age of a child (except if there are important nutrition defficiencies, of course) by Head / Body ratio alone.

Now, of course, like all body measures, there are averages and there are extremes...

Am I the only girl lover who seems to notice that all kids kind of have a disproportionately large head for their body?

Probably.

Most of us notice that adults have a disproportionately small head for their body. :P

Which leads to the point - depends on what you're looking for.

Most of us paeds are looking for larger heads than heterics look for, and thus a large head on anyone is sexier to us than a small head on anyone. After all, a large head has a huge effect on making you look younger - because of all of the above. As a side effect, whenever a girl has a head larger than her age would predict, such as Sammi, she gets the admiration of paeds who don't theoretically consider her in-AOA.

Me - I love large heads. I think they are beautiful and sexy!!!! The first thing I notice in a girl is if / that she has a large head - and I am not kidding. I have mentioned this before - that the nominally post-AOA AGs I've fallen for have had super sexily large heads...

There really is nothing as sexy as when you notice in front of you a toddie girl walking, and notice how her large head makes her all the sexier, truly crowning a beautiful ensemble.
