I really think he will be accepting because we do have that love and respect for each other, and I want to tell him because as you say it will help him to realize that MAA's are good people.

I am worried that someone else may find out but I really wouldn't expect him to tell anyone without my consent as we are SUCH close friends. If I can't tell my best friend then frankly I can't tell anyone and I'm not prepared to go through life hiding these feelings away anymore.

Thanks for the tips on how to say it....some important points for sure. In fact everyone's reply has helped so cheers folks! Will keep you posted on how it goes!
