Indeed. As has been argued here by JD, this line of thought is incompatible with the line of thought of music producers regarding piracy copies and downloads of their music.
Also, the correct word (the judge's mistake, not yours) here is "supply", not demand. :p
I even wonder why people make CP, give that they don't (usually, as far as I know) make any profit out of it (I'm talking about the usual downloadable CP, not commerically-produced CP, which basically doesn't exist anymore). The only think they win a risk to get your ass thrown in jail
Most kp was always pre-existing stuff, back from legal times, copied into new formats.
In the few known cases of actual new production, such as the Disney series and a few similar others, it seems that 1) the thrill of making kp and distributing it is in itself a factor and 2) many of these people were themselves kp collectors, which makes you think they saw as simply fair to add more materials to everyone else's collections - the analogy would be a guy who rips a new music album or movie for sharing just because they know someone will like it and they see it as fair enough.
It is also heavily believed that the overwhelming majority of new kp production is now and has been for a few years, self-made kp by the minors themselves, through their webcams or cellphones, and either released for the thrill or intended for restricted distribution but later released without their approval. This model of production is, of course, very different from any conceivable commercial model (including illegal models) and even from the amateur model of the Disney series and the like.
