Dissy, thanks for a great post. I know that we may not always perhaps concur in every single fine matter in terms of our ideas of means to achieve the same ends, but it is still my strong opinion that you are an extraordinarily marvelous person, you are absolutely upfront with people and dispense with silly and sarcastic games, even in the most intense of political debates or quarrels. I really like your no-nonsense & upfront manner, I also think you have the kindest heart, and I MUCH admire you in ways I just can't put here into words.

I think you in your complete humility have put yourself down a bit too much by saying that you are no hero and that you are not a man of high intelligence. You are certainly a hero to me because of all the time, pains, efforts and sacrifices you continue to put in for MAA's almost every day. I have so much admiration for everything you do for all MAA's. Trucker is very right what he says about you in that you would be one of the most capable and effective spokesmen for MAA emancipation that perhaps he (and certainly I) know of, and nothing would please me more than to see you take the decision to undertake such a dedicated and noble cause, and I do believe that you would do a great job because you do have more than enough talent, and you possess that ability to convey your thoughts with the greatest of ease and eloquence.

But I do fully understand and totally respect your decision not to put yourself up on a pedestal as a martyr. At the end of the day, many of us (including yourself) have many other life commitments and aspirations, and simply to sacrifice and throw all this away all for the sake of full time MAA activism is certainly not always realistic or practical. I think that there ARE certain people who would ideally be suited for full time MAA activism, but I would imagine that they simply would not have much (if anything) to sacrifice to BEGIN with. Compare someone like yourself with great talents, with a job, family and friends, and just so many life interests. That's a lot to sacrifice. Whereas a person with perhaps very little or no friends and family, little or no other real talents apart from MAA activist skills specifically, and who feels he has no life worth living other than a sole passion for MAA emancipation. This kind of person would be one ideally suited to dedicating his soul and life into it. I think you have made some wise decisions in the way you have chosen to evenly allocate your life aspirations and interests. You have made the best of all worlds because you have your job, your friends, your various life interests, and you are still managing to fit in your fantastic contribution to the MAA cause. I would like to say yet again, thanks so much for everything you continue to do for us all.

Goethe
