Girl moment today

I had a nice encounter today that I wanted to share.

I was walking down the road and ahead I saw a cute girl who looked about 11 (she was actually 9) stop a passing man and ask him something, only for him to shake his head and walk off. You can imagine perhaps some of the things that ran through my mind as to why this young, cute brunette might be stopping passing men.

As I had to pass anyway, I found that I was the next to be stopped. She then asked me if she'd seen her lost German Shepherd dog. Aw! I said no, but that I love dogs (which I do) and would help her look - if she wanted. 'Yes please' she said.

And so we walked together for over half an hour, getting to know each other. As she walked, I found she had none of the senseless adult hang-ups about bodily contact, and would regularly walk with her body brushing and sometimes pushing into mine. Then more and more we exchanged glances during conversation, and her big eyes and cute smile lit up my world for those short moments.

At one point we got into a prodding game somehow and she relished poking me with her finger almost as much as I enjoyed prodding her back.

All too soon it was time to go, but I said I'd be happy to help her look again if her dog went missing. (We found it by the way!)

These are the little moments that make life worth living. I wish I could have spent all day with her, and in an ideal or Victorian world, asked her back to my place to watch TV, play board games, cook, or anything else she desired.
