Searching ( GM )

On my way home the other day I saw some perplexing behavior from a couple of 14 ( ? ) year old girls.

They were about a block and a half in front of me and headed my way. At one point one of the girls turned on her heels and proceeded to run back away as the other continued to walk by me. I figured that maybe one was returning home after seeing a friend off?

But then she turned around and walked past me.

Less than a block ahead I saw a hot-pink cell-phone on the sidewalk. But by this time the girls were out of sight, and I would've had to track them back if, indeed, it was their phone. So I left the mystery phone where it was.

I have no idea if that's what it was, or something else.

I have no idea if they needed my help, or not. And if so, whether they didn't solicit my help because I was a fortysomething male, or because my exhaustion at the end of the workweek looked like grumpiness to them.

All of it was quite mysterious. But then again, girls are always more likely to surprise than any fictions about girls.
