Asking permission is 'revolting?'

But the notion of approaching the parents to obtain permission to use a child in a film, sound recording or other piece of artwork is de rigeur.

And scouting using schools is pretty standard too. That's how Keisha Castle-Hughes and Nina Kervel were discovered and cast in Whale Rider and Blame It On Fidel.

Maybe Rudd is revolted at the idea that there are parents and children who wouldn't be revolted. But hey, not everyone can be a small-minded fascist.
