Thank you for the response, StarRanger. Perhaps I should clarify a bit. I know there are a lot of atheists here who believe that human consciousness simply ends when the physical brain dies and that life has no real meaning to it, so I was hesitant to bring up the topic of reincarnation. However, based on everything I have seen in my life, based on everything I have read, based on my own gut instinct, I believe reincarnation to be a reality...hence, my discussion of my worldview with ShadowDweller in this thread. It's refreshing to see that others also have this worldview and it's also refreshing to see that not everyone connects the concept of reincarnation with religion and thus deny its existence on the basis of their disdain for religion. I think reincarnation would continue to occur even in the total absence of religion.

I also believe that our main purpose in life is to learn certain things that help our spiritual aspect evolve. Does this mean that we are sometimes tested? I think so, regardless of whether or not these tests are actually planned by the universal consciousness. I think certain tests have to be set up in the course of our learning. I don't believe they are anything like the type of standardized tests we receive in the course of your material education (I loathe those types of tests!). In fact, I don't much like ANY type of testing, but I have often felt that in my life I have been sorely tested this time around. I see other people that I could swear are not tested at all, or only on occasion. And I simply do not understand enough about the universe and its rules governing life why this should be so for some people and not for others. I acknowledge that it's very possible that I am perceiving various learning experiences as difficult tests when such are not actually intended to be. But when you've had a particularly difficult life compared to many other people that you know, I can see how some people may come to believe that SOME of us are sorely tested in life.
