Start a movement. Eat a prune.

Do you see the humor of this subject line? I remember being 6 years old among adults that thought it was absolutely hilarious. I understand the joke now. Hippies in the 1960's were trying to start a social movement. Prunes are nature's laxative, so prunes will start a bowel movement. Pretty funny, huh?

Ummm ... not really. I didn't get it right away, but I figured it out in a few days. But even then, I didn't see why it was so funny, and thought there must be more to it than that. But that was all there was to it.

Your cousin's daughter lives in a different world than you do. The phrase "getting it up" will likely be as obsolete as "Start a movement. Eat a prune." is to me when she's an adult. If you explained it to her now, she won't understand. If you explain it to her in 20 years, she won't find it funny.

The adults laughed, she laughed, so where is the problem? You should just enjoy the moment, and not find anything sinister about it.
