There's always ways around it for the internet stuff until the day they start forcing everyone to be identified as a precondition for surfing the web,

Which was the policy of Saddam's Iraq until the very end - and also of Fidel's Cuba during the early years of the web. Freedom abroad, oppression at home?? Ironic, aint it??

I wouldn't be so against it if they started separating "consensual sex offenders" from the true slime.

Me wouldn't either.

But then, the true slime, for the most part, has enough aggravating factors to put them behind bars for life, or at least way longer time, so they are a small proportion of released SOs.

And then of course, the lack of distinction makes possible to inflate the problem - as the commenters said, when people who mooned or urinated are listed, it's easy to say that there are millions of SOs which require MORE police and MORE taxpayer money.

And then of course, some people, even here of all places don't believe it's all for money...

I have no choice but to be dead set against it.

I would probably still be dead set against it if it were still defined as post-punishment punishment, as it violates any kind of civilised procedural rights... otoh, if it were clearly included as part of the punishment and applied accordingly to more crimes, then I wouldn't - as it would mean that the criminal law clearly includes privacy sanctions as well as freedom sanctions. Which is a rare legal theory in the post-Enlightenment West, but is a valid legal theory anyway.

Those who are persecuted for acts which clearly had the informed consent and mutual desire of the child deserve our sympathy, support, and IMO deserve to be treated as heroes.

I agree.
