I fully concur. And getting rid of the derogatory word "kid" would be one way of restoring young adults their rightful status. It's very difficult to empower a group if they continue to be slandered with disparaging name tags. Fighting for young adults' rights by saying "fighting for teenage kids' rights" is analogous to saying "fighting for curry munchers' rights" or "fighting for bitch rights". Certainly isn't going to help any such cause.
