The trick to me is for songs to be obscure to nons about the message contained in them. If you don't know what I mean, look at the history of blues and slave songs. The best songs leave everyone else believing it's about something else, while your target audience is able to decipher the intended meaning pretty easily. Music is an art form, so is lyricism, and as such nobody who harasses you for it is taken seriously just because they can read some alternative meaning into the lyrics. You don't have to justify them, especially when there's multiple ways of interpreting them. People can interpret them however they wish. Your response to haters is that you just write them, the words just come to you from somewhere, etc.

So my advice is to suggest it is time for subtle messages rather than grand proclamations of how you love little girls. It's subversive for people who are oppressed, and it's far more effective than naked pride. To me, a perfect song can be interpreted several different ways, and people tend to apply whatever meaning they are inclined to be looking for. Good luck. And I suggest never posting your best material on these boards unless you want it to be used to track you down. Any writing I post here is automatically forsaken from ever using it anywhere else, online or off. Good luck with it.
