Hello. I see many new nicks and a few old ones. I know I parted from GC on somewhat bad terms (with some here anyway), but I nevertheless wanted to say hi and let everyone know I was okay. I also wanted to make a few girl-related media updates, in accordance with the original purpose of the Lateralus nick.

First, I'm sure you're all aware of Dakota Fanning's newest film, 'The Secret Life of Bees' but you may not know about her upcoming teen superhero film, 'Push':

There's a trailer of the film over on the sci-fi site io9. You can get to easily if you type "Dakota Fanning" into the search engine and scroll down to the post headed 'It's Heroes — The Movie!' I won't link the io9 site because it frequently features (adult) nudity, but its a great site in general for info on sci-fi, comics, etc.

Next, if you're into unusual animation, io9 also has clips and info on a curious animated Russian film called 'Alice's Birthday', which has a sci-fi theme as well. Again, go to io9 and type "Alice's Birthday" into the search engine. The first link is the one, and it has clips from the film.

The last one has some particularly beautiful animation.

Then, I talked about this on DU months ago, but there is Tarsem Singh's 'The Fall' Great clip here:

A fantasy adventure film with magnificent cinematography and echoes of the 'The Adventures of Baron Munchausen' this is a must-see!

Now, Gore Verbinski discusses directing a filmed version of the wildly popular horror adventure game 'Bioshock' here:

For those here who are familiar with the game, seeing the Little Sisters on film will be interesting.

Alright, well I guess that's all the news for now. 2009 and 2010 are going to be excellent for girl-related media.

Later, folks. I'm not sure when I'll be stopping in again, so sayonara.

p.s. You'll have to forgive me for not using html on the links as I've forgotten how.
