Is it really necessary? I mean what question about our history can't be properly answered with the search engine?

Yes, it is necessary, because GC is an important resource on the Net and it's of historical importance in many ways. It deserves to be recorded for posterity the same as anything else of historical importance. And since the average person cannot access our search engine, it's all the more important that the history be researched and written down by someone. The fact that our history can be readily studied by someone with access to our search engine is beside the point.
