On the one hand you are right in theory.

But it's not that easy with torrents, because of the sharing structure, to plant a malicious file without it being quickly detected and tagged as malicious or removed.

All said, it's still a debatable idea whether or not you should be downloading torrents of models - but it's just more complicated than that...
