Filmclub and Schools Film Week

Filmclub is an after school club giving children free weekly access to classic and popular films from across the world. The hope of educationalists is that learning about the culture of film will enrich the learning experience of children in primary and senior schools in the UK.

Kirsty Lang discusses this initiative with film director Gaylene Gould and the pupils and teacher of one London school.

Plus Mark Herman, director of The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, explains why he became involved in Schools Film Week, and his thoughts on whether films are good vehicles for conveying complex issues to young people.

National Schools Film Week runs from 20 - 24 October in England, Northern Ireland and Wales and 3−7 November in Scotland
