Well my guess is that seeing your AoA from 3-12 already represents a massively diverse range of physical attraction, it wouldn't seem all that surprising that you may extend it out even further, here or there. I mean, a 3 yo is WORLDS away from a 12 yo youth/young adult. Look at it this way...a 12 yo old is so negligibly different to a 16 yo, especially when comparing both of those ages with a pre schooler. In some cultures, particularly in the past, it would not have been anything at all unusual for 12 and 16 yos to HAVE 3 yos of their OWN:) So what you are experiencing doesn't seem to me to be something anymore intriguing than having an AoA of 3-12 ;)
