He was exactly what adults wanted him to beinnocent, which really means he was ignorant and naive.

Needless to say, there are those who never grow up from this kind of innocence, but go around their whole life and do the following:

1. Project their sexuality outside themselves, onto a sexual object (in this case Andrea).

2. For this reason never feel a real responsibility for sexual feelings.

3. Blame the sexual object for those feelings.

4. Can be fearful of the sexual object, derisive of the sexual object and finally even violent towards it.

The idea that sexuality is something we share ... that it resides in ourselves and can be shared with others ... is an idea that is totally alien to the notion of the asexual child growing up in the asexual family.
