Sorry to hear this. Well my humble 2 cents worth on this...
I'd say spare a few days to mull over and think of something good and effective to say to her. You are very intelligent and you make utterly convincing statements in your political fight towards the emancipation of minorphiles, so I feel quite confident that someone of your knowledgeable authority should be able to easily convince someone like your friend (who, with all due respect, is obviously totally uneducated and ignorant in the matter of paedophilia).
You will obviously need to find your own way at conveying the most effectively positive profile of paedophiles that you can, and I'm sure you should be able to do a pretty good job of it, as you are more than capable of pointing out things so logically, succinctly and eloquently. But as I said, you will need to find your own personal way, and a lot of the way you actually DO it will much depend on the way her individual nature is. Different people need to be approached in slightly different ways, don't you agree?
You may prefer to defend paedophiles more from a child's perspective too rather than an MAA's perspective, as I have found from personal experience that this is the best way to first broach pedo defense, and it's definitely a way of treading on more safer ground with people you really want to stay friends with. You could remind her that the groups that you support in support forums include paedophiles and that there are many individuals (paedophiles or otherwise) who themselves as children participated wantingly and mutually consentingly in sexual relationships with paedophiles (as was the case with me from the time I was 7). You could also remind her that many of us as former children in paedopile relationships actually harbour indignation and deep seated grudges towards society because of its persecution of our former partners. Conclude by saying that the anti movement is a purely politically driven, newly founded morality, and is one of the greatest mass promulgated shams of all time. It is simply NOT supported by objective science. Unfortunately, POLITICS determines "scientific findings", rather than what it SHOULD BE (ie, the other way round): Objective science should determine politics!
Also from my own experience, I have always found it much better to get my ideas in order in the form of WRITING/EMAILS rather than random ideas that spring into my head over phone, as I have found that approach more than often to be less effective in conveying well thought out argument. BUT that's just me...you may have a gift of SPEAKING off the cuff just as well as you WRITE here on this board.
Btw, I laughed when you said that she said that the Rudd government is "too pro pedo". LOL. She's either trying to kid herself or kid you. The Australian government do NOT support paedophiles and they certainly do NOT "cover up" for them! It must be remembered that Australia probably falls in third place in its anti thinking (after U.K 1st, then the U.S). You only have to look at the way Rudd recently had personally reacted to those art exhibitions! So you might want to put her right on that one.
