But typically when vicious Christian yokels act out, they're called vicious yokels. When vicious Muslim yokels act out, they're called Muslim; even if their actions demonstrate their deviation from the straight path.

And you're right, its only recently that the selective editing of scripture among Jews and Christians leads to ignoring the verses which support genocide and gynocide.

But one look at the secular tyrants shows that any God-substitute will be used to justify such violence as well; nation, race, Mao-Zedong, what have you?

The difference is that the West seeks to promote an abstract virtue called "tolerance." "Tolerence" was invented so that a nation of immigrants and religious refugees wouldn't import their holy-wars. Essentially it says, you can practice as you wish if you'll let me practice as I wish.

The net result is that we allow all sorts of irrational behaviors to be tolerated openly which would justly be denounced if we required more support than "my Deity told me to."

However at this point its not the Humanists who are wading into the fray, its the Nationalists with their "save the children" rhetoric who are selecting which religious communities will be allowed to keep their children, and which will have their children removed into the Gulag that is the Foster-care system.
