In her defense, it's pretty likely she's using 'pedofile' in the context that the rest of the world has taken to using, ie, 'child rapist'. Of course, it shows a lack of independent thought on her part, perhaps, but with the media blitzkrieg in Australia, as well as the US and the UK, regarding what a pedophile is and what they do, one can hardly be blamed for drinking the 'Pedohate' flavoured Kool-Aid.

Don't give up on her; maybe you could further the discussion and help her see a different side of it. She seems like an open minded person, but even the most opened minded people seem to need a push to think 'outside the box' on this issue.
