Memory is a tricky thing

Memory is often tainted by the lens of world view. I've seen a study where an event was captured on audio video individually for several study volunteers by a camera mounted to their heads. There memory immediately afterwards was very good but less than a year later there memories where already very distorted from the actual events. There has been other studies showing similar memory problems.

If you think of yourself as a person negatively influenced by your moms lack of affection you may forget how affectionate she was. If you consider yourself negative influenced by your mothers cuddling you may forget how cold she was.

People from different times remember times some times as better then those times where or worse. Hindsight isn't really 20/20
