just as many women generally vote for whomever their husband voted for.

Surely, this isn't the case these days? I know my wife didn't vote as I did.

It may be so that many husbands and wives vote alike today because they are politically alligned, as is resonable in a marriage of two people who share similar interests and goals. But I'm not sure it's fair to assume that women are voting as their husbands instruct.
