I'm not quite sure how I feel about children being able to vote. I think there would have to be some sort of test to gauge whether they were able to understand what they were doing and the ramifications of it, if you're not just going to set some arbitrary age limit. I think children under the age of 12/13 are highly likely to just ape their parents' political views, whereas teens are starting to develop their own independent values and ideology.

I think a 13 year old can rationalize her own reasons for wanting to vote for a candidate and understand the voting process and its consequences, but can a 3 year old? I doubt it. It's not the same as granting women or African Americans the right to vote. I'm not saying that we can't figure out an efficient way of granting kids the right to vote, but it'd take a whole lot of careful planning IMHO.
