Voting rights, children, and other groups...

OK, I do know that this is not exactly what the advocates of democratisation have for long held as improvement... however...
I do think that voting should require tests, just as much as driving does. I certainly don't think that we should allow every adult to vote. That said, I don't see any reason why we should prevent an u18 from taking the same test and, if passing, allow them to vote.
The vote should be a prize to critical and independent thinking, to social and civic values and to adherence to a community's improvement. Admittedly, it would probably be hard to develop a test that is devoid of ideological biases, liberal and conservative alike - apart from basic questions about the structure of government and how the vote fits in all of it. But still, I don't really support granting the vote to every adult for free.
And Dissident, I was politically aware at 2 and interested at 6 :p
