Some serious girl love undertones. Little Jenny (played by Susan Gordon - a beautiful girl) loves Old Ben, and is quite upset when her aunt and other adults want to take him away from her. But it all turns out well, and they run away together.
So many girl love undertones. Old Ben is a fugitive, and Jenny's aunt is sure that he must be some terrible person, but it turns out that he is a monarch who has skipped out on his tiresome duties, and his subjects want him back because he has been such a wonderful king. And, with his shape-shifting abilities, Old Ben can pass as a little girl himself. Hmmn.
Then, even though Jenny's aunt, Mrs. Gann, is being an ass and trying to keep Jenny away from her best friend (Old Ben), Old Ben tries to give Jenny good advice:
Old Ben: Now that isn't respectful, Jenny. You must remember that Mrs. Gann is a very nervous person and she isn't wholly responsible for her behavior.
Jenny: Then who is?
Old Ben: Well, I'm not too sure, but in any case you try to forgive her.
Closing Narration: "Mrs. Gann will be in for a big surprise when she finds this under Jenny's pillow, because Mrs. Gann has more temper than imagination. She'll never dream that this is a picture of Old Ben as he really looks, and it will never occur to her that eventually her niece will grow up to be an honest-to-goodness queen, somewhere in the Twilight Zone."
Oh, and running away with Old Ben was definitely Jenny's idea. ;-)
