Erm, actually, yes.

Investigate by all means. But there's no need to make self-aggrandizing claims and factual assertions to the press before proof and a reasonable interpretation are available.

A hypothesis is not a finding of fact.

Statements like this to the press can taint a case and cause it to be thrown out. Not good police work by any means.

I'd tell them to use their "nut," but it looks like they already did :)
