... with regard to the permanence of problems.

The fact remains that most people commit suicide for problems that they can't see the solution to.

To assume that what I can't see now doesn't exist and will never exist gives me a level of omniscience on par with God. If I really had all current and foreknowledge available, exploiting such superpowers would be plenty of reason to stick around.

But given that I'm merely human the acknowledgement of the limits of my knowledge isn't optimistic, its realistic.

Fact, the one thought shared in common by all survivors of jumps from the Golden Gate Bridge was the fucked-upness of their choice on the way down. In the history of that bridge only one survivor tried to kill themself again.

We can only speculate about the others who weren't spared by some accidental circumstance. But I think its safe to assume that many more regret their choice as soon as they execute it.
